People talk about the five love languages, but I think they forgot to include Mexican food. At my house, bringing Rhonda tacos, enchiladas, or fajitas is my way of saying, “I love you.”
I’m not always the best at buying flowers or remembering every special occasion, but I do know that showing up with a bag full of warm chips, fresh salsa, and queso can turn an ordinary day into a good one. Nothing says, “I was thinking about you,” quite like not having to cook dinner.
A bouquet of roses is nice, but it can’t compete with sizzling fajitas. Jewelry is great, but have you ever surprised someone with fresh guacamole? That’s a level of romance Hallmark hasn’t figured out yet.
Over the years, Rhonda has learned that if I text, “I’m stopping by the Mexican restaurant,” it’s not just about dinner—it’s my version of saying she’s appreciated. It’s simple, delicious, and a whole lot more filling than a greeting card.
So yes, Mexican food is my love language. If loving your wife means making sure she never has to wonder what’s for supper and there’s always extra chips and queso on the table, then I’d say I’m doing pretty well.
