We recently tackled a busted cast-iron drain line buried beneath the concrete slab. Once old cast iron cracks, separates, or deteriorates, wastewater can start leaking into the soil underneath your home. And where there’s moisture, mold and mildew may decide they’ve found themselves a rent-free condo.

The solution? Remove the failed section and replace it with PVC drain piping. PVC doesn’t rust or rot like old cast iron, and when properly installed, it gives you a dependable drain system designed to last for years.

This isn’t exactly a “grab some duct tape and call it good” repair. Getting to a drain line beneath a slab takes experience, proper diagnosis, and a plan to make sure everything drains correctly when the concrete goes back.
