How did roots get into this toilet supply line?
You know it’s going to be an interesting plumbing call when somebody says, “The other tenant fixed the busted water main themselves.” π
We opened things up and found ROOTS inside the water supply line! π³π§ Yep… roots. Apparently the repair method was less “licensed plumbing” and more “just stick it back together and see what happens.”
When a water main is improperly repaired underground, dirt, roots, and other contamination can find their way into places they absolutely DO NOT belong. Your water line is supposed to deliver clean water—not start its own underground garden.
There’s a reason water-main repairs need to be done correctly. Proper fittings, proper materials, proper installation, and keeping contamination out of the potable water system aren’t optional extras.
So if your neighbor says, “Don’t worry, I watched a video and fixed it myself,” you might want to start worrying. π
π³ Roots belong around the pipe—not IN the pipe!
