It is a water heater, not a hot water heater!
It is a water heater, not a hot water heater!

One of those little things that irritates me way more than it probably should is when somebody says, “hot water heater.”
A HOT water heater? ๐คฆโ๏ธ
Folks, if the water is already hot, WHY ARE WE HEATING IT? That’s like calling your oven a “cooked-food cooker” or your refrigerator a “cold-food colder.”
It’s a WATER HEATER. It takes cold water and makes it hot. That’s the whole job description. Simple. Efficient. No identity crisis required.
Every time somebody says “hot water heater,” a plumber somewhere twitches just a little bit. ๐
Now, I realize this may be one of those plumber problems that normal people don’t care about. But after hearing it for years, my brain automatically wants to yell, “THE WATER ISN’T HOT YET!”
So please, for the sake of plumbers everywhere, just call it a water heater.
American Plumbing appreciates your cooperation in ending this completely unnecessary plumbing vocabulary crisis. ๐๐ง
