COPPER VS. GALVANIZED — SOME PEOPLE JUST LOVE DIGGING HOLES TWICE! ๐๐ง
At American Plumbing, when we connect a backflow prevention device to underground piping, we use copper where appropriate. Why? Because galvanized pipe buried in acidic Louisiana soil can rust, deteriorate, and eventually break!
But apparently, some wannabe plumbers think galvanized pipe is the greatest invention since indoor toilets!
Sure, bury that galvanized pipe! The ground will eventually eat it like a fat kid going through a bag of Halloween candy! ๐
A few years later, you’ve got water bubbling out of the yard, a nice muddy swimming pool, and a homeowner wondering why their water bill looks like the national debt!
And here comes the plumber with a shovel and a bill that could’ve been avoided!
Here’s an old-school plumbing lesson: Just because you can screw two pieces of pipe together doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing!
Copper costs more upfront, but digging up somebody’s yard to fix a rusted-out mess isn’t exactly a bargain!
At American Plumbing, we believe in doing it right the FIRST time!
